Dea Robinson is a continual learner in the medical management setting as an administrator and officer of a long-standing (since 1998) Hospitalist practice in Englewood, Colorado. Inpatient Medicine Service started as a 2 physician practice and has grown to a 14 FTE physician practice serving two hospitals.
In 2008 Dea and seven other physicians from IMS started an affiliate company, Eight, Inc. where she currently is President. Eight, Inc. provides medical administrative support in the form of consulting and advising. Dea obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in Retail/Marketing in 1985, a Post-Baccalaereate degree from the University of Arizona in Higher Education in 1990 and a Masters Degree in Communication in 2004 from the University of Colorado at Denver.
She is an avid fan of creating community within the Hospitalist network for the past 10 years through various channels at MGMA and is thrilled that the specialty has advanced and membership has positively responded. Dea is a regular blogger on the MGMA Hospitalist, Human Resources, Women's Leadership and Primary Care Assembly Membership Community website. Dea currently holds a Board position on the MGMA Primary Care Assembly as President for 2010-2011.
Karla Killingsworth
With a prior background in banking and finance, Karla has over twenty two years of experience in medical practice administration and management. She has extensive experience in financial management in group practices as well as solo private practices. Karla helped to negotiate payer contracts and monitored reimbursement rates based on RBRVS and the practice's cost per RVU. She has managed the installation and conversion of practice management systems and accounting systems. Karla has also been involved in the development of physician compensation models, employment contracts and administration of various retirement plans. She has managed clinical staff as well as administrative staff and was responsible for all human resource issues and benefit packages for the employees.
Karla has been an active member in MGMA and the Colorado MGMA for many years. She completed the Management Education and Development program in addition to a variety of educational courses offered by MGMA and the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Karla is a certified QuickBooks user and a member of the National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers.
